Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Maribel Patiño
Maribel Patiño was awarded the Paul and Daisy Soros Scholarship. She is a graduate student studying Neuroscience in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) and is dedicated to helping undergraduate minority students apply to Grad schools through the UC San Diego organization, Colors of the Brain.
Meet Maribel
Award: Up to $25,000 maintenance fee (not to exceed $40,000) and $20,000 in graduate tuition for one to two years -- a total of as much as $90,000
Number of awards: 30
UC San Diego applicants deadline: October 31, 2024, 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific).
- A naturalized citizen, green-card holder, or child of 2 parents who are naturalized citizens
- College senior or have Bachelors degree and must not have started the third year of the graduate program you are seeking funding for.
- Must be 30 or younger as of the application deadline (i.e. must not have reached/passed your 31st birthday)
