Area of Research

Currently, I'm looking into the social determinants of health and how they contribute to elevated levels of chronic stress which alter brain development and consequently cause higher mortality rates.

My Journey to Research

I decided to get involved in undergraduate research because I have always been passionate about this topic and I couldn't find enough information about it so I decided to look into it. I have found a lot about myself and my career choices through this research. This idea originally started from a question that was presented to me as I was presenting in a conference for a different topic. I also began to notice how my biggest motivation and my role model, who is my mother, is someone that is directly impacted by this issue. Ever since then, I have been slowly gathering information about this topic.

How has COVID affected your Research?

Current circumstances that come with this pandemic have presented me with many challenges and obstacles; however, I try my best to keep in mind why I started doing this research and what is my end goal. I aspire to use this research as a tool to help others as I pursue my degree and enter the medical field. This vision provides me with a positive outlook and keeps me motivated!
