Stephanie Akpa was a AEP McNair Scholar at UC San Diego in 2004.  Stephanie completed her undergraduate work at UC San Diego in 2006.

Law School

She was admitted to Yale Law School in 2006 and completed her studies in 2009 with her Juris Doctorate. 

Career

Since graduating, Stephanie has earned several prominent professional positions.   

She gained experience working as a Litigation Associate for Debevoise & Plimpton Law Firm before working for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as a Health Insurance Specialist. 

Fellowship

Stephanie accepted a position as an Equal Justice Works Fellow for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia.  During her tenure as an Equal Justice Works Fellow, Stephanie worked to ensure that African-Americans in Washington, D.C. had access to quality health care through community education and outreach, direct representation, and policy advocacy. Stephanie’s project helped to bridge the gap between health insurance coverage and access to quality health care for African-Americans living in poverty in the District of Columbia.

Elizabeth Warren Presidential Campaign

In 2016, Stephanie became Policy Council for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and in 2018, Stephanie became Senior Council for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.
