Summer Training Program
The purpose of this summer program is to help scholars learn key neuroscience techniques and connect them with campus resources. During the summer, scholars will get to meet our STARTneuro directors and faculty, who will be leading weekly modules.
The 8-week program is from Monday to Friday only. A typical day is 9 am -5 pm, with lectures and workshops in the morning, and lab work in the afternoon.
Tentative Summer Modules (subject to change)
- week 1 → Introduction to the program & neuroscience
- week 2 → Intracellular Electrophysiology
- week 3 → Extracellular electrophysiology
- week 4 → Brain codes & waves
- week 5 → Molecular biology
- week 6 → Molecular biology (continued)
- week 7 → Capstone projects
- week 8 → Reflection week & poster presentations
The summer modules are designed under the assumption that you have no prior knowledge/experience. There’s no need to prepare unless otherwise noted by the STARTneuro faculty leading the module.
The final project will be a capstone poster presentation where scholars will have an opportunity to showcase what they learned over the 8-week summer program.
During the summer, scholars will have multiple opportunities to network with fellow incoming transfer students as well as scholars in other research programs on campus participating in the Summer Research Program.
