The STARTneuro Community Building Symposium hosts ~10 community college faculty and staff for a two-day symposium at UC San Diego in early August of each year.
The goals of this symposium are to promote knowledge of neuroscience research, career paths (especially at UCSD) and build trust between community colleges and our UC San Diego neuroscience community.
The symposium features sessions about neuroscience research and academic paths on campus, the transfer student experience, and professional paths available to PhD holders. Over the course of two days, attendees will meet UC San Diego's neuroscience faculty, current STARTneuro students, and academic professionals at UC San Diego who can advise on the transfer student process.
We would like to invite local community college faculty and staff who are interested in broadening student participation in research and preparing diverse students for STEM careers. If you are interested or would like to recommend a participant, please fill out our interest form.
Complete this form to invite STARTneuro to present/attend your college fair, STEM event, student organization activity, classroom, etc.
