Rhodes Scholarship  (Oxford University, UK)

Award: Tuition and living/ travel expenses at Oxford University

Number of awards: 32 (2 per district); 

  • There is no fixed limit on the number of applicant endorsements a UC San Diego can make, but these nominees must exhibit the qualities of a Rhodes Scholar -- literary and scholastic achievements; energy to use one's talents to the full; truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship; and moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.

Agency deadline for nominations to be submitted: 11:59 PM EDT on the first Wednesday of October

Requirements

U.S. citizen, permanent resident for at least 5 years, or U.S. resident with DACA status. 



Literary and scholastic achievement



Between 18 and 24 years of age (must be 23 years old on Oct 1 in year of application)



At least 5, but not more than 8 letters of recommendation. At least 4 must be from faculty you've received instruction from, and at least 1 must speak to your character.

Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship requires an endorsement from the UC San Diego Institutional Advisor. It is recommended that applicants review the requirements and meet with the institutional advisor before applying (see contact info below).
