Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships

Award: Up to $5,000 Program; potential for and additional $3,000 for study of a critical language. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad. Such international exchange is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world.


NEW (2020): Gilman-McCain Scholarships for dependents of active-duty service members.

Number of awards: Variable

Application materials available in mid-August.

Deadlines to apply:

  • Spring Programs - early October by 11:59 PM Central Time.
  • Summer Programs - early October by 11:59 PM Central Time for early application, March for regular application
  • Fall/Academic Year Programs - early March by 11:59 PM Central Time.

Requirements

U.S. Citizen 


Must be a Pell Grant recipient at the time of application.
